Manual Testing with the AMP Toolbar for Firefox

NOTE: The AMP Toolbar for Firefox has been deprecated and is no longer supported by Level Access.

Manual testing can now be completed by navigating to the Guided Automatic or Manual Checklist folder. Here, users will be provided with all of the Best Practices that must be reviewed.

When an instance associated with a Best Practice is selected the testing sub-tabs will be updated with the following information:

  • Review- This provides a link to the Best Practice along with the Best Practice description. This is also the area where the user will add/edit the instance Description (required field) and Note field. Once complete, they have the ability to Flag/Pass the instance.
  • Fix- Provides recommended changes or ways to fix the content. Examples of compliant and non-compliant situations are also included in this area.
  • Technology Platform- Provides additional information regarding the area of the Technology Platform (e.g., Forms, Images, Frames, etc.) that is being evaluated.
  • Screen Shot- This displays the screenshot of the page that is currently being tested. The screenshot is automatically captured by the AMP Toolbar for Firefox when the page is initially tested.

Once users have completed all of the guided automatic and manual testing on the current module/page, the "Testing State Complete" check box is activated to record the testing state in the AMP report.

Add a Pattern Violation

Users can flag an issue that is occurring on more than one module. This is done by adding a Pattern violation. To add a pattern violation, users must complete the following:

  1. Expand the Report Patterns node in the Testing Tree
  2. Select the Add Pattern node
  3. Enter the desired name for the Pattern in the Pattern Name text input
  4. Select the Save Pattern hyperlink

  1. Select the Add Pattern Violation hyperlink to add violation(s) to the Pattern
    1. Choose the Violation to flag
    2. Enter a description of the violation in the Description text field
    3. (Optional) Enter any additional information within the Note text field
    4. Select the Save Violation icon, in the Action column
  2. Add additional modules to the Pattern Violation by selecting the Add Pattern Module hyperlink

Add a Global Violation

During the manual testing process, sometimes a violation will be identified that occurs on every page, or that is related to the entire site/application. In this case, testers have the ability to add the violation once and apply it across the entire report. This is what is referred to as a Global violation. Users can add a Global violation to the report by completing the following steps:

  1. Expand the Report Globals node in the Testing Tree
  2. Select the Add Global node
  3. Enter the desired name for the Global in the Global Name text field
  4. Select the Save Global hyperlink
  5. Select the Add Global Violation hyperlink to addviolation(s) to the Global
    1. Choose the Violation to flag
    2. Enter a description of the violation in the Description text field
    3. (Optional) Enter any additional information within the Note text field
    4. Select the Save Violation icon, in the Action column

When a Global Violation is created, all modules in the report will be updated with the violation(s) that have been added to the Global Violation.
